Can't Say No To Love / Can't Say No To Happiness
...for a change of pace, my delicious two replacement CDs came today. It was probably the coolest package shipped to my school today: Homogenic, and The Bends, both in one stiff cardboard package. Beck is cool the same way Bjork is, but with different style. That is, the both of them sprinkle their music with their own brands of unique, nonrepeating awesome, but their particular subsets of awesome aren't quite similar. Jesus, Homogenic is painfully good. "Bachelorette" nearly caused me to break down right here in the goddamn AFM room (can't find any nanotubes!), as it sort of sounds like a strained ballad from Jenn to me. A lot of the album feels that way, really. Articulateness eludes me. I think I know why.
When Jonathan Brodsky gets old, he'll become the machinist for a college, and while away his days in a crazy workshop filled with gears and vicious saws capable of cutting copper-beryllium into itsy fingers, possibly with phone parts in his pockets, if we're still using phones.
