[ in continuation with the 4-year theme ]

I've never been terrifically excited about the prospect of electing John Kerry, to be honest. I fear a great many of the incensed, the outraged, and the newly politically-roused voters seem whipped into a counter-shmatriotic frenzy with the belief (nay, the Commandment) that John Kerry will save us from a Terrible, Dark Future that seems all but inevitable given present global conditions/administrative policy. I don't doubt that they're well-intentioned men, but John Kerry and John Edwards cannot, and will not come through on their campaign promises. They were grand beyond reason, and hyperpoliticized to boot.

Which brings us to today. As an idealist that leans well past Democratic on the left, as well as a pragmatic empiricist, I assert the Bush Administration needs expulsion, post-fucking haste. Please please go fucking vote, but do so with a level head, knowing that while the Kerry/Edwards ticket is "our" statistically-best chance, it's not the political embodiment of the goddamned Messiah.

Apologies for the high degree of aimlessness. I suppose the important part isn't to be stone-cold cynical in the interest of Simply Being Right, but to go vote, and hope.

With a grim smile, I post:

I'll post about how ill-informed, abortion-obsessed neoconservative college students almost, but don't quite deserve a second chance before operation Fierce Steamer takes effect a little after never, since politics is the tallest, baddest can of worms one could open in a public forum as full of fucktardery as t3h intarweb.

"Did you hold your nose and vote for Gore?"

Music: The Clash's phenomenal London Calling, in between bouts of Trail Of Dead, miscellaneous post-rock/indie, and a dash of Snow Patrol. Tomorrow's forecast: The Dead Kennedys.
